ith a design company you are
freed from publishing concerns if you want a
hands-off approach. If your website is fairly static, i.e. you
won't want to amend anything very often then some kind of minimal fee
for your designer to make amendments should suffice.
However, if you want to make money from the net, the site is going to need to be
changed on a regular basis. Any new product additions, change of personnel, etc etc will
require a change on the site. In these cases opting for content management software will be advisable.
Often the e-commerce solution provided will come with some admin area in which you can add/edit/delete
products at will.
My advice is ask about maintenance before commiting, see the package offered and imagine yourself or
your staff amending the details. This can save a lot of heartache (and panic) after you go live.
Most web design companies will offer some kind of promotion in with a package. However be wary of the "we'll submit to 100 search engines" comment often found tagged onto the end of an advert.
